Elizabeth II, £1 (Welsh Pound) 1985 Silver Proof Piedfort

In 1985 the portrait of the Queen, as used on our coinage changed. The Machin bust was replaced by one believed to be by Raphael Maklouf. The Queen now wore a crown rather than a Tiara she had been pictured with. This portrait was to be used until 1997. We can offer the first silver proof pounds to show this portrait of the late Queen. The coin comes in a protective capsules. No matter who made it, it is a rather handsome rendition and they are the first year of issue.
