Old Portuguese 20 reis coins

Before the introduction of the Portuguese escudo in 1911, the country’s currency was the real (Pl. reis) for almost four and a half centuries until the end of the monarchy in 1910. Unlike most currencies there was no subdivision. We can now offer you some 20 reis coins struck in copper from the reigns of Luiz I and Carlos I, covering the 1880s and 1890s. The coins are struck in bronze and come in Fine condition.
