The Maria Theresa silver Thaler was first struck in 1741 but, since the death of Maria Theresa in 1780 it has been issued by the Austrian Mint carrying the date 1780. It is considered by many to be the most beautiful crown ever. Due to its silver content and similar size to the Spanish 8 Reales, this coin could also be found in regular usage throughout the Arab world, particularly Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Muscat and Oman and also in Africa, especially Ethiopia, and India and remains popular to this day as a trading coin in North Africa and the Middle East. We recently bought a quantity of these full crown-sized silver pieces in Brilliant Uncirculated condition so I am going to off er them in small quantities for those who want to put them away or give them out as gifts, they are beautiful coins struck in high quality Silver, and with the price of silver on the rise these could be good to put away.
