Additionally, we have the 1887 Halfcrown Uncirculated, marking the year when Queen Victoria finally approved the change of her portrait on the coinage, after having maintained her Young Head depiction for half a century.

Moreover, our collection now includes the Falkland Islands 50 pence 2001 Henry VII Silver Piedfort Crown. This coin is the third in a series of four issued by the Falkland Islands. It features a piedfort silver proof crown of Queen Elizabeth II, adorned with a gold-plated coin depicting Henry VII. While we cannot confirm with absolute certainty, it is believed that only 100 pieces were minted.

1887 Halfcrown Uncirculated

In 1887 Queen Victoria finally allowed her portrait on the coinage to be changed. It was 50 years that she kept her Young Head portrait on the coins. The Halfcrown, or Two Shillings and Sixpence, was perhaps the most used large silver coin at the time. Because of course a Halfcrown was a lot of money then. You have the Queen on the obverse with that silly little crown placed on her head. She hated it because it looked like a toy rather than the real thing. The reverse has a crowned coat of arms within a garter of roses. We offer them in Uncirculated.

2005 £2, Gunpowder Plot Silver Proof

In 2005, the Royal Mint issued a new £2 coin to commemorate the 400th Anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot of 5 November 1605, an unsuccessful attempt to blow up the House of Lords and kill King James I during the State Opening of Parliament. Owing to suspicion, the King ordered a thorough search of the House of Lords that evening and Guy Fawkes was found guarding 36 barrels of gunpowder and the plot was foiled. Fawkes, along with other plotters, was eventually tried and they met their grisly fate in January 1606. The reverse of the coin shows and arrangement of croziers, maces and swords surrounded by stars with the dates 1605 and 2005 and the coin carries the edge inscription REMEMBER REMEMBER THE FIFTH OF NOVEMBER. The mintages were low and you don’t see these very often but we have a small quantity of these in silver proof. The coins comes in capsules.

2008 50 Pence Last Seated Britannia

In 2008, the Royal Mint introduced new reverse designs on our coinage. One of the design coins being replaced was that of the seated Britannia which had been a feature on the Fifty Pence coin since its introduction in 1969. To mark the final use of this design on the Fifty Pence coin, the Royal Mint struck some in silver proof and it is these special coins that we offer you here, but we have a limited number available.

Alderney, Charles III, D-Day 1 Ounce Silver 2024

The Channel Island of Alderney was heavily impacted by World War II as it was fortified by the Germans and used for labour camps. Although it was not attacked on D-Day, its defences were part of the German strategy, and the island stayed under German control until May 9, 1945. This 2024 Alderney 1oz Silver Coin was issued to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day, 1944- 2024, and features a detailed design depicting Allied troops on the beaches of Normandy. The obverse of the coin bears the portrait of King Charles III designed by Jody Clark, with the year of issue below. Struck in .999 fine silver in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.

Alexander the Great Bronzee Chalkon, Fine

Alexander the Great (356-323 BC), son of Philip II of Macedon, is renowned for creating one of the largest empires in ancient history. Ascending to the throne at 20, he swiftly consolidated his power and launched a series of military campaigns. His conquests spanned from Greece to Egypt and extended eastward to India. Known for his tactical brilliance, Alexander never lost a battle, with notable victories including the Battle of Issus and the Siege of Tyre. His legacy includes the spread of Greek culture and the founding of numerous cities, the most famous being Alexandria in Egypt. Alexander's empire fragmented after his death at 32, but his cultural and military impacts endured for centuries. Here we are offering bronze Chalkon which have the bust of Herakles on the obverse and his bow and quiver on the reverse. These come from his reign and they come in Fine Grade.

Antique Finish Horse Pocket Watch

We had so many collectors who wanted our Steam Train pocket watch that we quickly sold out. Now we have a pocket watch with a horse or it and this too is likely to be a winner. It comes in an antique brass finish and the front has a running horse in cut-out form. All you do is removed the tiny piece of plastic in the winder, set the time, press it down and it is ready to go. They will make excellent gifts for anyone who likes horses, especially at our price of just £14.95! It is a winner, but supplies are limited.

Bulgaria New Coinage Set of 7 BU

In 1999 Bulgaria redenominated its coinage, replacing the third lev series at a rate of 1,000 to 1. The obverse of all the coins, from the 1 stotinka up to the 50 stotinki feature the Madara Horseman, which is an early medieval relief rock carving on the Madara Plateau in the north east of the country and which dates back to the late 7th Century. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 1 lev piece bears the image of St Ivan Rilsky (St John of Rila), a hermit who is also Bulgaria’s Patron Saint. This 7-coin set is in BU condition and a worthwhile buy, as Bulgaria is due to adopt the euro from January 2025.

Celtic Silver Quniarius of Kaletedes

We have a small number of these Celtic silver Quinarius available dating from ca. 120-50 BC. They are from the Central Gaul region issued by Kaletedes of the Lingones (The Jumpers), who were a Gallic tribe of the Iron Age and Roman periods. They dwelled in the region surrounding the present-day city of Langres (Civitas Lingonum) which is named after the Gallic tribe. The coins have a Celticised head of Roma on the obverse which was widely used on Roman Republican coins of the period. The reverse shows a horse galloping left with KAΛ above and Δ below. The denomination is a quinarius which was half of a denarius. They grade about very fine for this issue. Only five of these coins are available.
