Additionally, we have the 1887 Halfcrown Uncirculated, marking the year when Queen Victoria finally approved the change of her portrait on the coinage, after having maintained her Young Head depiction for half a century.

Moreover, our collection now includes the Falkland Islands 50 pence 2001 Henry VII Silver Piedfort Crown. This coin is the third in a series of four issued by the Falkland Islands. It features a piedfort silver proof crown of Queen Elizabeth II, adorned with a gold-plated coin depicting Henry VII. While we cannot confirm with absolute certainty, it is believed that only 100 pieces were minted.

India, Travancore, Silver 1 Chuckram

The Kingdom of Travancore (1729-1949) was located on the southern tip of India and covered much of modern Kerala and Tamil Nadu. These tiny silver 1 chuckram coins date back to the early 19th century when Gowri Lakshmi Bayi was the reigning Maharani and then Regent for her young son between 1810 and 1815. The obverse depicts the “Vishnupaadam” or feet of the Hindu deity Lord Vishnu, and it is thought the reverse shows lotus flowers associated with the goddess Lakshmi. Born in 315 AD, Valerius Licinianus Licinius briefly ruled alongside his father, Licinius, in the early 4th century. He became Caesar in 317, co-ruling the Eastern Roman Empire. However, his reign was short-lived, as political turmoil and conflicts with the rival emperor Constantine the Great led to Licinius II's untimely demise. In 324 AD, he was possibly executed as part of the power struggles of the time. Licinius II remains a relatively obscure figure in Roman history, his significance overshadowed by the turbulent events of the era. We are offering Nummus from his short reign in Fine grade and all with Jupiter, king of the Gods, on the reverse.

Samuel Fereday Bilston 1812 Copper Token

Samuel Fereday was an important Black Country industrialist. Sir Edward Thomason, in his Memoirs, reckoned him to be the greatest ironmaster in the world. In addition to his industrial and mining activities, he was a partner in the Bilston Bank, which failed in the slump of 1816. At the height of his prosperity he and his various companies employed around 5,000 workers, the largest number at that time ever to have been employed by one concern. Fereday issued a range of copper penny tokens in 1811-1812 for the town of Bilston in Staff ordshire with his name and we have a small number available in Very Fine Condition.

Silver 1/2 Shahi of Ismail I

Ismail I was the founder and first shah of Safavid Iran, ruling from 1501 until his death in 1524. The dynasty founded by Ismail I would rule for over two centuries, being one of the greatest Iranian empires and at its height being amongst the most powerful empires of its time. His reign is often considered the beginning of modern Iranian history and one of the most vital in the history of Iran. Ismail I was responsible for reviving Iran as an economic stronghold between East and West, he was also a prolifi c poet who, under the pen name Khaṭāʾī, contributed greatly to the literary development of the Azerbaijani language. These silver ½ Shahi coins feature beautiful calligraphy typical of the period with the name Shah Ismail in a cartouche on the obverse. Now over 500 years old, they are offered in Good Very Fine condition but in very limited numbers.

Prior to the introduction of the New Zealand dollar in 1967, the country had its own pre-decimal pound. We are offering a set of 3 Queen Elizabeth II pennies struck in the late 1950s in Very Fine condition and from the early 1960s in Uncirculated condition. The obverse shows the young laureate head of the late queen and the reverse has a tui bird resting in the branches of a kowhai tree and surrounded by a legend of the country name, denomination and year.
