In 1971, for the first time, the Royal Mint issued decimal Half Pence coins as well as the One Pence and the Two Pence coins. The Half Pence ceased to be made in 1984 and it looks like the other two denominations are on their way out as well. Only in 1971 did the Royal Mint issue its bronze coins in rolls. Each roll contained 50 coins and they were shrink wrapped. These coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition still in their original rolls even though they are now 53 years old. Oh yes, the denomination was ‘New Pence’, it was not until 1982 that they dropped the word ‘New’ and they became just Pence. BU rolls of 50 coins all dated 1971. Just for your edification: one dealer is selling the 1971 coins one by one, not a roll but just one coin for the following prices 2p £5.00 (£250)!
Severus II (A.D. 305-307) is a very hard emperor to find as he is struck coins for less than two years. When Galerius elevated his childhood friend (Severus) to Caesar, Diocletian is meant to have said, “What! That dancer, that habitual drunkard who turns night into day and day into night?” Regardless, Severus was made Augustus after a year and sent to shut down the rebellion of Maxentius. His army defected, he was captured and eventually executed by the rebels. We have a limited number of his bronze Quater Follis coins showing his bust on the obverse and various reverses. They grade Fine and are priced accordingly.
Years ago we offered these pairs of cufflinks made with real coins then enamelled to make them even more attractive. You don’t wear cufflinks everyday, but when you do why not wear real coins. They come in a variety of colours, so if you want more than one pair of the type… Supplies are very limited and we just found them after years in our vault room.
We are offering you a set of 2 Spanish coins that were struck for one year only. These bronze 5 and 10 centimos coins cover the period of the Provisional Government, which followed the toppling of the unpopular Queen Isabella II in 1868 and the naming of the new Italian born King Amadeo I of the House of Savoy in 1870. The obverse shows the fi gure of seated Hispania holding out a branch, while the reverse has a lion rampant holding a shield with the Spanish coat of arms. Both are in Fine-Very Fine condition.

In December 2003 the Turkish parliament approved a redenomination of the country’s currency. This involved the removal of six zeros from the Turkish lira, and the creation of a new currency, which was introduced on January 1, 2005. The value of the lira had deteriorated to such an extent that the Guinness Book of Records named the Turkish lira as the world’s least valuable currency in 1995-1996, and then again between 1999 and 2004. We have put together a set of these uncirculated high denomination coins with a face value of 500,000, 750,000 and 1,000,000 lira dated 2002, which means they would have been worth just over $1 USD at the time.
