Thomas Jefferson Wartime Nickel Pair

In 1938 the US introduced the new copper nickel 5 cent coin showing Thomas Jefferson. However, as the country entered World War 2 and nickel became a strategic war material, the coin was struck in a copper-silver-manganese alloy between 1942 and 1945. These “war nickels” were also struck with a large P mint mark above the Monticello house, the first and only time this Philadelphia mint mark appeared in this way on a US coin. The aim was to make them easier to identify and withdraw after the war. Although in circulated condition, we have a number of these distinct coins that avoided being scrapped, which we will offer along with one of the regular 1938-2003 coins struck in copper nickel.

USA 2024 Silver Eagle BU

The New 2024 United States Silver Eagle has just come in! The reverse design now features a Bald Eagle in flight and ready to swoop. The coins are now a matt surface that looks like our old matt proofs. The quality is fantastic and they are beautiful coins. They carry the ‘W’ mint mark which means they were struck at the West Point Mint. If you saw the James Bond fi lm Gold Finger this the place that they tried and failed to take over. Each 2024 US Silver Eagle has 1 ounce of fine silver and is in immaculate condition. The price of silver has been on the rise, but we have tried to keep our prices as low as possible. But remember the coins have to be imported and the Government slaps VAT on them. That said, they are beautiful…
