Tristan da Cunha, Crown (William & Catherine)

This handsome crown was issued on the 29th of April 2011 for the wedding of Prince William to Catherine. You have the conjoined busts of the happy couple facing right with his Grandmother, H.M. Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. These are most interesting crowns issued by the small island of Tristan da Cunha, in the most remote South Atlantic Ocean. Each crown is gold plated and individually numbered on the crown itself. The original mintage was 50,000 pieces and we believe the original issue price was £14.95. Each crown comes in protective capsule and our price is just £9.95, which is quite a bargain. Limit three per collector!

Tristan da Cunha, Crown (Ferdinand Magellan) Proof Silver Plated

Born in 1480 Ferdinand Magellan would grow up to be one of the most famous and competent Portuguese explorers. Portugal was a small country but known for the competency of its sailors. Magellan went on to live in Portuguese India or Goa for eight years before setting out to search for a passage to the Spice Islands. In 1521 he went around South America and found the Spice Island. He continued on and became the first person to circle the globe. This beautiful diamond-shaped Crown from Tristan da Cunha honours this great explorer. You have Magellan on one side with his sailing ship and steering wheel and H. M. the Queen on the other side. Each Crown is heavily silver plated, in Proof condition and comes in a diamond-shaped protective capsule. The price will also please you and if you are a ship collector, you will need this coin.

St. Thomas & Prince Scarce Crown

In 1985St. Thomas & Prince issued a cupro-nickel crown or 100 Dobras to honour their 10th anniversary of Independence. It is a small and fascinating island, however, getting coins or banknotes from there is almost impossible. Two banknote dealers who went there were put in jail accused of money laundering. So this Crown is even more interesting and important. I think it is the first crown we have had from St. Thomas & Prince. You have an outline picture of the island on one side and the coat of arms on the reverse with two birds holding it up. A most unusual and difficult crown to find, in fact, most of this country's coins are difficult to obtain...
