Seychelles, United Nations Cupro-Nickle Prooflike, 1995

In 1995 to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations, the Royal Mint issued a series of crown sized coins. The event did not hit the peak the Royal Mint wanted, especially as they spent most of their time trying to promote the Silver issues. So that the cupronickel issues have turned out to be the scarcest of the issue. One of these was from Seychelles. We find that we are running short and this could be your last time on this one. The crown is Uncirculated and as far as I know, we have the last group of these coins available. Good value and now 23 years old.

United States of America, Rugged American Collection

A friend of ours was cleaning out one of his warehouses and came across a quantity of this important collection. It was issued by the Canadian company ‘Husky Self Service Stations’ in 1970. They were struck by the famous, but no longer making coins, Franklin Mint. Each copper medallion depicts a famous figure from the old West and the collection comes with a booklet telling you who each one is and what they did. Plus a presentation card for displaying the whole collection. Each medallion is still in the original cellophane envelope that it was issued in. You get an eight-page information booklet which not only tells you about the person on the medallion but also an image of how they looked. Plus, a 4-page leaflet telling you about the issue of these medallions. Finally, a full-colour cardboard display card to mount and show off the entire collection of 13 pieces. The ‘cowboys’ depicted are Buffalo Bill Cody, Wild Bill Hickok, Wyatt Earp, Kit Carson, Bat Masterson, Meriwether Lewis, and William Clark. The Native Americans depicted are Geronimo, Chief Joseph, Sitting Bull, Black Hawk, Sacajawea, and Crazy Horse. There are a total of 13 different bronze medallions all in pristine, unopened, new condition. And remember this set is 47 years old! We offer the complete set with a display card and information booklet for only £24.50! But there is a limit of 2 sets per order. After all, at this price, they are a gift and they make great gifts! Don’t miss out on this one.

Bhutan, 50 Ngultrum Unc (50th Anniversary), 1995

Way up high in the middle of the mountains that include Mount Everest, the small but exotic country of the Kingdom of Bhutan is situated. Intertwined dragons make up its coat of arms and the country is more interested in being happy than in anything else. How it got involved in the Royal Mint’s programme for the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations we will never know, but they sure did. On one side there is a portrait of the late leader of the United Nations, Dag Hammarskjold. The reverse has those intertwined dragons. This is full crownsized, in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and from a country that doesn’t issue a lot of coins, then again this crown was issued in 1995. We think that we are perhaps the only coin firm that has them for sale. We also think you will like our prices, after all, we did buy them some time ago…

Afghanistan, 50 Afghanis UN 50th

This crown or 50 Afghanis was issued when the war there wasn’t of all that much interest to us. It was issued in 1995 for the 50th Anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. You have a young man sitting contemplating with birds gathering around him. You have the arms of Afghanistan on the other side with the denomination. In 1995 the Royal Mint issued a collection of crowns for the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations, they didn’t sell that well, so they didn’t make all that many of them. We were able to buy up all the remaining coins and all are in Uncirculated condition. A Scarce crown to find.
