Royal Mint Coins are very popular with coin collectors from around the world. Over the years the Royal Mint has produced a significant number of commemorative coins, medals, and bullion, as well as all of the UK’s circulating coinage. As one of the UK’s biggest and oldest coin dealers, we sell Royal Mint coins to collectors and not investors. That is why you won’t find on this page all the Royal Mint commemorative coins released throughout the years. Charles III, £2 (Merlin) 2023 Silver 1 Oz Brilliant Unc
The Royal Mint has issued a new one ounce silver £2 coin as part of the Myths and Legends series. But, for the first time, it carries the portrait of King Charles III. This portrays Merlin the magician doing his magic and is dated 2023. The coin is struck in BU specimen condition on one side and with the crosshatches on the other side. It is the first of this series to have King Charles III’s portrait. It is one you should have in your collection.

Elizabeth II, £2 (Abolition of The Slave Trade) 2007 Sterling Silver Proof
There has been a lot of talk of late about schools and businesses that were connected at one time to slavery and the slave trade. We are proud to be able to offer this Sterling Silver Proof £2 issued by the Royal Mint to honour the 200th anniversary of the Act for the Abolition Slave Trade in Great Britain. You have the date 1807 with a chain on one side and H. M. Queen Elizbeth II on the other side. They are Sterling Silver with the edge gold plated to emulate the base metal bi-metallic coins. Elizabeth II, £2 (Bank of England) 1994 Silver Piedfort
In 1994 the Royal Mint struck a special commemorative £2 to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the Bank of England. It was the old larger-sized £2 coin and looks rather fantastic. It has the monogram WM for William and Mary and a rather attractive seated Britannia. We have a nice group of this important and attractive £2 piece in Piedfort Sterling Silver Proof. The mintage is 9,569. They come in a protective capsule. It is a large size, it has a beautiful design, and the mintage is rather low, what more could you ask for?

As many of you know DNA is the building block of life. In 2003, The Royal Mint celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the discovery of the Double Helix by Francis Crick and James Watson. Carrying on from the Robin Hood series the Royal Mint has issued a prooflike £2 silver coin featuring King Arthur, of the round table. Each coin is dated 2023 and carries the portrait of H. M. Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. A beautiful coin brilliant prooflike on one side and cross-hatched Uncirculated on the other. It is most unusual to feature Her Majesty on a coin dated 2023. Each coin contains one ounce of silver and carries on a most popular series. Get these while you can, the earlier coins have mostly sold out. One of the marketing companies is advertising them at a price you wouldn’t believe.

For some reason, the Royal Mint has had delays in delivering the third in the Robin Hood Series, but at last, it is here… Little John, one ounce of pure silver dated 2022, has been added to Robin Hood series. Each coin has a face value of £2 and contains one ounce of pure silver. Each coin is in Specimen Uncirculated condition and comes in a Mint protective capsule. For some reason, this third issue for Little John has proved hard to get. Our agent has now received our allocation and as soon as we got them we offered them to you. Elizabeth II, £2 (London Olympic Handover Ceremony) 2008 Silver Proof
This Sterling Silver Proof £2 coin was issued in 2008/2010 for the handover of the Olympics from Beijing to London. It has the Olympic flag being transferred from one hand to the other and the two different dates. It was issued by the Royal Mint and it is one issue that many collectors are missing as the edition limit was quite low and many people who collect Olympic memorabilia snapped them up and they went abroad. Each Sterling Silver Proof comes in a protective capsule as issued.

Elizabeth II, £2 (Maid Marian) 2022 1 Oz Silver Brilliant Unc
The Royal Mint has now issued the 2022 coin in their Silver Myths and Legend Series. It is Maid Marian, it has a face value of £2, contains one ounce of pure Silver and is in Choice Brilliant Uncirculated condition. So now you can either add Maid Marian to your Robin Hood coin or if you haven’t bought Robin you can have him too. We don’t know how many others will be made but we sure hope Friar Tuck will be coming along shortly. Both of these coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and the Maid Marian is an early strike. That means the dies were new and the coins are just that better strike. Most collectors wouldn’t notice the difference, but as we bought them early we know ours are early strikes.

Guglielmo Marconi, the 1st Marquis Marconi is said to be the inventor of wireless transmissions and therefore radio. He won a Nobel prize for wireless transmission and founded the Marconi Company. In 2001 the Royal Mint honoured him with a special commemorative £2 piece. Beside the coins struck for circulation, they also made special collectors editions in Proof Sterling Silver and Piedfort or double the regular thickness again in Proof Sterling Silver. We recently acquired a small group of this very important commemorative decimal £2 coin in both Silver and Piedfort Silver. Each coin comes in a protective capsule. Supplies are limited and they are priced at less than the Royal Mint charges for modern issues today.

This one is a winner, the £2 issued for the Millennium in 2000, but a Sterling Silver Proof coin. It has two different colours, but the outer ring is gold plated and the coin is solid Sterling Silver and a gleaming proof. This is the new design with, of course, the portrait of H. M. Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. These Royal Mint coins come in a protective capsule as issued. Remember they are now 21 years old and much cheaper than the Mint charges for similar pieces today.

Elizabeth II, £2 (UEFA Euro) 1996 Proof Sterling Silver
For those of you who like football, in 1996 the Royal Mint issued a special commemorative £2 coin for the European Championship that was held in this country. You have a most interesting and innovative design on this coin and one which they, unfortunately, have not repeated. You had the whole reverse covered by a football and with the planchet concave you have a stunning coin. We are offering here is the Sterling Silver proof variant. This was the last of the large-sized £2 pieces and in our opinion the most attractive and innovative.

In 1997 the Royal Mint issued the first of the current bi-metallic £2 pieces, the problem was how to strike them for collectors in Silver. The answer was to strike them in Sterling Silver and then to gold plate the outer ring so it would look like a bi-metallic piece. Many collectors have overlooked this series and to be honest we just don’t know why. The first of any series is important and these especially for the difficulty that the Mint faced in striking them.
