2 different sets from St. Thomas & Prince

Saint Thomas & Prince make up a small group of islands, 150 miles off the Western Coast of Africa. It was uninhabited until the Portuguese discovered it in 1470. Yes, I have visited it and unlike other coin dealers, I was not arrested trying to take coins and notes outside the country. We buy all our material legally and in England. Of course it helped to keep me out of jail, that Claire is fluent in Portuguese. These are two fantastic sets of their coinage, one older and one current for you. In either case they are most difficult to get legally. All the coins are in Uncirculated condition. The older set contains five coins: 100, 250, 500, 1,000 and 2,000 Dobras and are all dated 1997, two of the coins are multi sided. The new set of coins contain: 10, 20 and 50 Centimos plus the 1 & 2 Dobras. We were only allocated 100 sets of both sets of these coins. You get 10 important and difficult to get coins from a country that doesn’t want you to have them and they are all in Uncirculated condition.

Mauritania, 6 Coin Mint Set

Mauritania at the top of the African continent is rather strange. It was one of the last places in the world to outlaw Slavery. It also is very difficult to get coins out of the country. We know one coin dealer who was placed in jail for trying. So when we were offered this set, we jumped at the chance. There are six coins all in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, two of which are bi-metallic. The coins are so new they are not listed in the catalogue. You get the 1/5th Ouguiya with a fish, 1 Ouguiya with a coffee pot, 2 Ouguiya with musical instruments, 5 Ouguiya with scientific tools, 10 Ouguiya with a bull and the 10 Ouguiya with a Camel. A tough set to get and all BU.
