The Britannia 10/- note was issued between 1928 and 1960 when it was replaced with the Portrait 10/- note.
It was the Bank of England’s first Ten Shilling note design. It was coloured red brown and featured a portrait of a seated Britannia on the front with a bed of acanthus leaves on the back. The last Chief Cashier to sign these Britannia 10/- notes was L K O’Brien (B271/P368c).
