These Clydesdale £1 were first issued in 1971 (P204) They feature a portrait of Robert the Bruce on the front and a scene from the 14th century Battle of Bannockburn, his most famous victory against the English, on the back. In 1982, rules were changed and Scottish Banks became Public Limited Companies. The change was reflected in the bank title which changed from Clydesdale Bank Limited to read Clydesdale Bank plc, These Limited £1 notes are much scarcer than the plc ones.
