Greenwich Borough 2012 Olympic Commemorative Medal

Issued by the Cook Islands in 1974, this proof set is one of the nicest sets of coins you will see, the designs are just fantastic. It is a 7-coin set from the 1 cent to the dollar and features a taro leaf on the 1 cent; a pineapple on the 2 cent; a hibiscus flower on the 5 cent; oranges on the 10 cent; Fairy Terns on the 20 cent; a Bonito fish on the 50 cent and Tangaroa, the ancient god of creation, on the Dollar. Gleaming proofs in the original case of issue.

In 1998 the Royal Mint honoured Prince Charles’s 50th birthday with a rather handsome £5 piece. It has Prince Charles on one side and his Mother – Elizabeth II on the other side. For some reason this coin has a very low mintage, perhaps it was the economy at the time. But for whatever reason the mintage was low and it is not easy to get. You have the dates 1948-1998 with the Prince of Wales and his Mother. They are struck in cupro-nickel and the face value is £5.00. Get them while you can, a coin missing from many collections of £5 pieces, don’t let your collection be incomplete.

This Sterling Silver Proof £2 coin was issued in 2008/2010 for the handover of the Olympics from Beijing to London. It has the Olympic flag being transferred from one hand to the other and the two different dates. It was issued by the Royal Mint and it is one issue that many collectors are missing as the edition limit was quite low and many people who collect Olympic memorabilia snapped them up and they went abroad.
