Jersey, Edward VIII, Bare Head Goldine

These handsome Patina retro-patterns show what Double Florin of King Edward VIII might have looked like had it been issued by Jersey in 1901. They are available here in copper, struck in Proof condition and have a very low mintage. In fact just 360 were struck overall.

Because Edward VIII abdicated in 1936, no British coins were struck for circulation. On the other hand, a number of Edward VIII coins were struck for overseas colonies and dependents. The most difficult one to get is the Fiji Penny. It has been some years since we were last able to offer this coin to our collectors. Ian went on a buying trip to New Zealand last year and was able to find a small quantity of this difficult coin. Each coin has a hole in the middle, I guess that was so the locals could carry them on a string. In Uncirculated condition.

In 1987 they issued a Canadian Edward VIII crownsized patina for the 50th anniversary of the wedding of H.R.H. the Duke of Windsor and the Duchess of Windsor. 1937-1987. You have the bare head portrait of the Duke of Windsor formerly King Edward VIII on one side. The dates of his rule as King 20.1.36-11.12.36 are below the bust. The other side has a Beaver and Maple Leafs, the symbols of Canada and the date 1987. Many collectors do not even know that these pieces exist, let alone have them in their collection. We have the cupro-nickel and goldine pieces on offer this issue, but our supplies are not all that great.
