Duchess of Windsor (Wallis Simpson) Medal Proof Sterling Silver

This crownsized medallion was issued in 1986 for the death of the Duchess of Windsor. The woman whom Edward VIII gave up the throne ‘for the woman I love’. 1986 was also the 50th anniversary of the King’s abdication. On the obverse you have the Duke and Duchess of Windsor in the older age. The reverse has the full story of what happened. It is struck in Proof Sterling Silver and is numbered on the edge. Only 50 pieces were ever struck. We found a few in one of our vault rooms and it has been years since we last offered them for sale. They are rare and almost impossible to find today.
