For over 350 years until 1880 the tical was the main unit of currency in Cambodia and one of the subdivisions was the fuang. We have in stock a small number of 1/8th of a tical, or 1 fuang coin, struck in billon between 1847 and 1860. The coin is interesting in that it is only struck on one side with the image of a Hamza bird. The bird is sacred in Buddhism as a symbol of wisdom and is believed to have the mythical ability of bringing good out of evil in South East Asian cultures.
