Bulgaria New Coinage Set of 7 BU

In 1999 Bulgaria redenominated its coinage, replacing the third lev series at a rate of 1,000 to 1. The obverse of all the coins, from the 1 stotinka up to the 50 stotinki feature the Madara Horseman, which is an early medieval relief rock carving on the Madara Plateau in the north east of the country and which dates back to the late 7th Century. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 1 lev piece bears the image of St Ivan Rilsky (St John of Rila), a hermit who is also Bulgaria’s Patron Saint. This 7-coin set is in BU condition and a worthwhile buy, as Bulgaria is due to adopt the euro from January 2025.

Russia_Scarce_1989_Rouble_Choice_Obv

Russia (USSR), 1989 Rouble

This coin was issued under the USSR, it is the largest denomination that was actually used every day as money. It is dated 1989 and it is dated both on the reverse and on the edge of the coin. You have the hammer and sickle on one side and the denomination on the other side. The current catalogue price is $30.00 in mint state 60 and there is no price for this coin in mint state 63, which they are. It is a scarce coin, in much better condition than they usually come. We bought them right, so we are going to sell them right. Uncirculated it catalogues at £22.70. A tough coin to get, especially so choice.

Picture of Lundy, 1977 Puffin & 1/2 Puffin

Lundy, 1977 Puffin & 1/2 Puffin

In 1977 Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her Silver Jubilee 1952-1977. She visited Lundy and a souvenir sheet was issued to honour that event. We have been offering that souvenir sheet with the two coin-tokens of a Puffin and a Half Puffin based on the first Lundy coin-tokens issued in 1929. At that time, the Government took umbrage, and the man who made them had to go to court. Many of our collectors want the coin-tokens, but do not want the souvenir sheet. They are struck in copper and are in brilliant Proof condition. Well worth adding to your collection, after all, how many Lundy issues have there been?
