Turkmenistan Mint Set

Here we present 5 coins all with the portrait of President Saparmurat Niyazov, the leader of Turkmenistan from 1985 to 2006. Amongst other 'interesting' things, the former leader of Turkmenistan replaced the statues of Lenin and Marx left by the Soviet Union with his own gold statues and renamed the names of months after members of his own family. In this set, you'll find their first coins in 1993: 1, 5, 10, 20 and 50 Tenge. The set catalogues over $7.00 and is not available elsewhere, a very difficult set of a very difficult ruler. A great addition to any world coin collection worthy of that name.

Vatican, 2 Lire (Holy Year) 1958 Brilliant Unc_obv

Vatican, 2 Lire (Holy Year) 1958 Brilliant Unc

Citta del Vaticano, or Vatican City, issued its own coins up until 2002 when it adopted the Euro. These Aluminium 2 Lire coins (KM.50) were issued in the name of Pope Pius XII in 1958 and were the last of their type issued since he died in October 1958. The coins are low mintage with only 30,000 being struck. They have the crowned shield on the obverse and on the reverse the figure of Fortitude standing with a lion at his feet. Even better, they come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and are now nearly 65 years old and rather difficult to find.
