Ascension Island, 50 pence (Royal Wedding Charles & Camilla) 2005_obv

Ascension Island, 50 pence (Royal Wedding Charles & Camilla) 2005

When the Royal Wedding of Charles & Camilla took place in 2005, it was kept as a very low key affair. Now some 16 years later we discover that not one, but two different Silver Proof crowns were issued to honour the event. Issued in VERY limited quantities! The Crown from the Ascension Islands, had a total mintage of just 200 pieces in Proof Sterling Silver. Overlooked by collectors because they were not publicised and unknown until now. We purchased the entire mintage of these Sterling Silver Proof crowns. Because the coins have the Queen’s portrait on them, these crowns had to be officially sanctioned by the Palace. Unknown until now, these silver proof crowns portray our next King and Queen. Add them to your collection while you still have the chance. Mintage is just 200!

Brunei Cap Badge_obv

Brunei Cap Badge

Brunei is one of the richest countries in the world, so getting things from it is very difficult. It is a small but rich country. This badge was made for wearing on a soldiers cap. It is very ornate and comes with 3 pins sticking out, which we have temporarily flattened for shipping. It is gold plated and we understand was actually made in this country. It measures 57mm x 55mm and it is the first time that we have seen it let alone been able to offer it for sale. We don’t know what they cost to make, but it had to be very considerable as Brunei only went with the best.

China (Xinjiang), 30th Anniversary in Sinkiang Medal

China (Xinjiang), 30th Anniversary in Sinkiang Medal

As civil war raged in China in the 1940’s, Xinjiang experienced a brief period of independence and became known as East Turkestan. On 1 October 1949, Chinese Communist Party leader Mao Zedong declared the creation of the People’s Republic of China and brought Xinjiang under its control. On 31 December 1954 and 1 January 1955 there was an ethnic-Uighur uprising and Communist troops and their families were sent to the region. Following the suppression, The Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region (XUAR) was established by the PRC government on October 1, 1955. In 1985, to celebrate the 30th anniversary, the government issued this medal to those military members and their families. These are now quite scarce and sought after. The medal is a 13-point gilt star measuring 45mm across with red and white enamel depicting a power station with snow-capped mountains in the background and animals grazing in the foreground and a golden star in the sky above. A bar with the dates 1955-1985 is attached above. The reverse carries bilingual script in Chinese characters and the local Uighur language which is a kind of Arabic script. The medals come as issued in a presentation case which has its own stand on the back for upright display.
