2000 £1 Welsh Pound Proof Sterling Silver_obv

Elizabeth II, £1 (Welsh Pound) 2000 Proof Sterling Silver

In the year 2000 we saw something that most people will never see, not the change from one Century to another Century, but the change over from one Millennium to another Millennium. From dates that started 19—to ones that started 20—. The Royal Mint as usual issued a Sterling Silver version of the Pound coins for VIP collectors. It had a beautiful rendition of the Welsh Dragon and is one of the most beautiful of the Pound designs. Of course this size and composition of the Pound coin has already changed...

£10 (Slabbed) 1st Britannia

Elizabeth II, £10 (1st £10 Britannia) 2013 5 Oz. Sterling Silver Proof M69 Ultra Cameo - Slabbed

In 2013 the Royal Mint issued its first-ever £10 Silver Britannia, a huge 5-ounce coin. Britannia is shown wearing a Corinthian Helmet holding an owl on her knee, it is the symbol of intelligence. She is sitting on a chair holding a trident, but there is one little problem. She is dressed or partially dressed in an old-fashioned way. That means that one of her breasts has been left exposed. The Ian Rank-Broadley bust of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse. The first release of this large silver coin was sold to a marketing company in the United States, which had them slabbed. This preserves the coin from getting fingerprints, authenticates the coin, and grades it. They graded the coins (£10 face value) as being Proof 69 out of 70 and better yet they are Ultra Cameo, which is about as good as you can get. The quality is outstanding. In the slab it is a large and handsome presentation piece, we can see them displayed in the slab on your mantlepiece. Anyone who sees it will be impressed, how could they not? A huge beautiful Britannia in silver in an impressive display case and the price is right. Originally sold by the Royal Mint at £420.00.

Picture of Elizabeth II, £2 1998 Bi-Metallic Piedford

Elizabeth II, £2 1998 Bi-Metallic Piedford

In 1997 the Royal Mint changed the Two Pound Piece. They made it smaller and they also made it bi-metallic and as with all new designs or types, collectors put them away. Come the next year and 1998 was almost forgotten by collectors. The coin on offer is the collector’s version of the circulating £2 of 1998, but struck in Proof Sterling Silver. To make the coin look like a bi-metallic coin, they gold plated the rim of the coin, so you see gold and silver, similar colours to the circulating issue. This 1998 Silver Proof £2 is not an easy coin to find and many collectors are missing it. An interesting coin almost forgot by collectors sold at the right price.

2000_£5_Queen_Mother_Silver_Piedfort

Elizabeth II, £5 (Queen Mother) 2000 Silver Piedfort

In 2000 the Royal Mint issued a commemorative £5 to honour the Queen Mother’s 100th birthday. It is a most unusual coin as you have a Queen on both sides. The obverse has Queen Elizabeth II and the reverse her mother Queen Elizabeth. It is very unusual and a fitting tribute to the Queen Mother, who, unfortunately, died just 2 years later. The coins on offer are the Sterling Silver Piedfort coins. That means they are twice as thick as the normal silver proofs. The mintage is just 14,850 coins all in choice Proof condition. Today the Mint charges £167.50 for a Piedfort £5 piece. We made a great buy and we are giving you the chance to share in that fantastic purchase. We're not selling them for £167.50, or even £120.00, we're selling them for JUST £99.50 while supply lasts.
