Mauritania, 6 Coin Mint Set

Mauritania at the top of the African continent is rather strange. It was one of the last places in the world to outlaw Slavery. It also is very difficult to get coins out of the country. We know one coin dealer who was placed in jail for trying. So when we were offered this set, we jumped at the chance. There are six coins all in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, two of which are bi-metallic. The coins are so new they are not listed in the catalogue. You get the 1/5th Ouguiya with a fish, 1 Ouguiya with a coffee pot, 2 Ouguiya with musical instruments, 5 Ouguiya with scientific tools, 10 Ouguiya with a bull and the 10 Ouguiya with a Camel. A tough set to get and all BU.

Elizabeth II, 1/10 Britannia Silver, 2006

The Britannia silver series is usually only available in Proof condition, except for the one ounce silver. But in 2006 the Royal Mint issued the 1/10th Silver Britannia in Uncirculated condition. As far as I know, this is the only year that they issued this coin in Uncirculated condition. So it is a Very Important type coin. I have selected this coin as my ‘Special Offer of the Issue’. First because it was only issued for one year and secondly and most importantly because I can sell it for such a cheap price. Each coin is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and struck in Sterling Silver, they only ever issued this coin in Uncirculated for one year. So it is a Very Important type coin. You can have this 1/10th Britannia only issued in 2006 for just £7.95. At this prices it really is the Special Offer of the Issue!

Canada, 1964 Prooflike Set

In 1964 Canada celebrated the 100th anniversary of Charlottetown by issuing a commemorative Silver Dollar. In Canada they issued these silver dollars both for circulation and for collectors. They are struck in 800 fine Silver and weigh 23.33 grams. You have the arms of Charlottetown on the reverse and the bust of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. We are offering the mostly silver Prooflike set issued for collectors. You get the Silver Dollar, Half Dollar, Quarter Dollar and Ten Cents plus the base metal 5c and 1c coins. Canada did not strike Proof Sets, but something almost as good and they called them Prooflike. They come sealed in a cellophane package, so you can see both sides of the coins without having to touch them. In some sets some of the silver coins will have toned slightly, as silver always does. This was one of the last large sized Canadian Silver Dollars to be issued in 1968 they went to a much smaller size in nickel. Remember this 1964 Silver Prooflike Set is now 54 years old and has the Queen on it.
