In the countries Japan occupied during the Second World War, a special currency was issued denominated in the currency of the country before the occupation. In the case of Burma these Japanese Government headed notes were denominated in rupees. The Democratic Republic of the Congo issued a series of Proof Crowns or 10 Francs in 2010 to honour real and fantasy Warriors of the World. Here we are offering the Japanese Samurai hero of the Emperor. Each silver plated crown is struck in gleaming Proof condition and we think we bought most of the mintage.

Japan 1 Yen Nd (1946) P85 Crisp EF/GEF

These 1 yen notes were issued in Japan in the immediate aftermath of the Second World War in 1946 (P85) They are fairly simple affairs with a portrait of Ninomiya Sintoku on the front. He was a prominent 19th century philosopher, economist and agricultural leader. A cockerel is also shown below. EF/GEF at £3.50

Japan 10 & 50 Sen P61/84 EF and Better Pair

A pair of small denomination notes issued by Japan in 1947-8. Both are quite small. The first is the 1947 10 sen which has doves in flight as the vignette on the front and a view of the Japanese Parliament on the back. (P84) The 50 sen has a portrait of a man with impressive beard and moustache on the front and a design on the back (P61) Both notes are in EF and better condition.
