2000 Welsh Dragon Piedfort Silver Pound. In 2000 the Royal Mint issued a Pound coin with the Welsh dragon on it. It is a very simple yet handsome design and one that would make anyone wish they were Welsh, just so they could claim the dragon. It is the Rank-Broadley bust of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. These are the Very Special coins struck in Proof Sterling Silver and double thickness Piedfort. A beautiful design in gleaming Piedfort Proof Sterling Silver.

In the year 2000 we saw something that most people will never see, not the change from one Century to another Century, but the change over from one Millennium to another Millennium. From dates that started 19—to ones that started 20—. The Royal Mint as usual issued a Sterling Silver version of the Pound coins for VIP collectors. It had a beautiful rendition of the Welsh Dragon and is one of the most beautiful of the Pound designs. Of course this size and composition of the Pound coin has already changed...

The non-gold pound coin was first issued in 1983. What many collectors don’t realise is that the Arnold Machin bust of the Queen was struck for only two years, 1983 and 1984. Thus not only was it the first issue but also the shortest and most difficult to get. The Royal Mint issued special editions for collectors in Proof Sterling Silver in both the normal thickness and in double thickness or Piedfort. Offered here is the 1983 issue in Proof. It comes in Sterling Silver and in a protective capsule. A very short mintage and now getting rather difficult to get.

The Piedfort Silver Pounds were first started when the Pound itself was started in 1983. The series went on till 2020 when the Pound coin was changed to the current bimetallic issues. The Key, the most difficult to get has always been the 1983 Piedfort Pound. In fact, when one of the Japanese Coin firms tried to put 1,000 collections together years ago they were willing to pay up to £245 for this coin. Our normal price on the 1983 Piedfort Pound is £135. But we bought a dealer's hoard and for this issue only we are going to offer them to our clients at a very special price of just £110. That saves you £25.00 on the Key Date of the series. In 1984 the Royal Mint issued its second Pound coin for collectors. It was the start of a four-coin series to honour, the different parts of the United Kingdom. In this case, the 1984 issue had a thistle for Scotland on it. They quickly sold out and the prices increased to somewhat ridiculous heights. Luckily the overseas buyers have stopped buying and the price of the 1984 Pound has come down to a level that makes it interesting again for collectors.

In 2013 the Royal Mint issued its first-ever £10 Silver Britannia, a huge 5-ounce coin. Britannia is shown wearing a Corinthian Helmet holding an owl on her knee, it is the symbol of intelligence. She is sitting on a chair holding a trident, but there is one little problem. She is dressed or partially dressed in an old-fashioned way. That means that one of her breasts has been left exposed. The Ian Rank-Broadley bust of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse. The first release of this large silver coin was sold to a marketing company in the United States, which had them slabbed. This preserves the coin from getting fingerprints, authenticates the coin, and grades it. They graded the coins (£10 face value) as being Proof 69 out of 70 and better yet they are Ultra Cameo, which is about as good as you can get. The quality is outstanding. In the slab it is a large and handsome presentation piece, we can see them displayed in the slab on your mantlepiece. Anyone who sees it will be impressed, how could they not? There has been a lot of talk of late about schools and businesses that were connected at one time to slavery and the slave trade. We are proud to be able to offer this Sterling Silver Proof £2 issued by the Royal Mint to honour the 200th anniversary of the Act for the Abolition Slave Trade in Great Britain. You have the date 1807 with a chain on one side and H. M. Queen Elizbeth II on the other side. They are Sterling Silver with the edge gold plated to emulate the base metal bi-metallic coins. In 1994 the Royal Mint struck a special commemorative £2 to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the Bank of England. It was the old larger-sized £2 coin and looks rather fantastic. It has the monogram WM for William and Mary and a rather attractive seated Britannia. We have a nice group of this important and attractive £2 piece in Piedfort Sterling Silver Proof. The mintage is 9,569. They come in a protective capsule. It is a large size, it has a beautiful design, and the mintage is rather low, what more could you ask for?

In 1986 the Royal Mint issued its first-ever non-Gold Two Pound Piece. It was a commemorative for the Commonwealth Games which were held in Edinburgh, Scotland. It has a Scottish Thistle in the middle of the Scottish flag, with the cross of St. Andrew. The obverse has the so-called Maklouf portrait of the Queen. They were struck in base metal for general circulation and in Proof Sterling Silver for collectors. Today these coins are getting more and more difficult to find. It is the first non-Gold Two Pound piece and a commemorative.

As many of you know DNA is the building block of life. In 2003, The Royal Mint celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the discovery of the Double Helix by Francis Crick and James Watson. The Royal Mint made a Special Collector’s edition in Proof Sterling Silver in Piedfort or Double Thick Sterling Silver Proof and this is the coin we are offering. The mintage was a maximum of 10,000 pieces and each coin is in a protective capsule. It can be yours at just £65.00.

In 2003 the Royal Mint issued a special commemorative £2 piece to honour the finding of the double helix the basis of DNA which is of course, the building block of all life. The coins on offer are the VIP edition available in both Proof Sterling Silver and Proof Sterling Silver Piedfort. Because the normal coins are bi-metallic, the Mint has gold plated the outer edge to make them look like two different metals. But both are solid Sterling Silver. Supplies are of course limited.

In 1995 the Royal Mint issued a special commemorative £2 piece to mark the 50th-anniversary of the end of World War II. They used the iconic Dove of Peace and the inscription read ‘1945 In Peace Goodwill 1995’. You have the Dove of Peace on one side and Queen Elizabeth II on the other side. Remember this coin is one of the old large-sized £2 pieces. For collectors, the Mint issued this commemorative £2 in Sterling Silver Proof and for VIP collectors they issued it in Piedfort or double the normal thickness Sterling Silver Proof. We have available the Silver pieces, as well as the cupro-nickel coin in Unc. The Sterling Silver Proof coins will come in protective capsules.

Carrying on from the Robin Hood series the Royal Mint has issued a prooflike £2 silver coin featuring King Arthur, of the round table. Each coin is dated 2023 and carries the portrait of H. M. Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. A beautiful coin brilliant prooflike on one side and cross-hatched Uncirculated on the other. It is most unusual to feature Her Majesty on a coin dated 2023. Each coin contains one ounce of silver and carries on a most popular series. Get these while you can, the earlier coins have mostly sold out. One of the marketing companies is advertising them at a price you wouldn’t believe.

This Sterling Silver Proof £2 coin was issued in 2008/2010 for the handover of the Olympics from Beijing to London. It has the Olympic flag being transferred from one hand to the other and the two different dates. It was issued by the Royal Mint and it is one issue that many collectors are missing as the edition limit was quite low and many people who collect Olympic memorabilia snapped them up and they went abroad. Each Sterling Silver Proof comes in a protective capsule as issued.

The Royal Mint has now issued the 2022 coin in their Silver Myths and Legend Series. It is Maid Marian, it has a face value of £2, contains one ounce of pure Silver and is in Choice Brilliant Uncirculated condition. So now you can either add Maid Marian to your Robin Hood coin or if you haven’t bought Robin you can have him too. We don’t know how many others will be made but we sure hope Friar Tuck will be coming along shortly. Both of these coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and the Maid Marian is an early strike. That means the dies were new and the coins are just that better strike. Most collectors wouldn’t notice the difference, but as we bought them early we know ours are early strikes.

Last year the Royal Mint issued a silver Britannia. But what most collectors don’t realize is that they also issued a silver Britannia with dogs countermarked on the edge. This was for the Chinese year of the dog. Both our supplier and the Royal Mint have sold out. The coins have £2 face value and are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition containing one ounce of pure silver. If you look on the edge of the coin you will see five small dogs countermarked on the edge. This could be a sleeper, the countermarked Britannia we had last year quickly sold out and we have been unable to get any more, so please be warned...

We have obtained some early strikes in Choice Brilliant Uncirculated condition of the 2022 Silver Britiannia. Each £2 coin contains an ounce of 999 fine silver and is one of the first struck from new fresh dies. In America they charge extra for first strikes, we do NOT charge anything extra for early strikes.

The 2016 Silver Britannia’s are certainly something Special. Firstly the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II has changed and she is now more mature. Also the quality of the silver being used is also different. While you still get one ounce of pure silver, they are now struck in four nines silver i.e. 999.9 and not 925 or Sterling Silver. This was done to placate the buyers in the Far East who want only pure silver coins with a pebble-dash surface. The coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Add one or more to your collection for a great price! The limit is 3 coins per collector at this price.

We have been able to get first strikes of the New 2019 Silver Britannia coins. They are 1 ounce of 999 Fine silver and in Prooflike Uncirculated condition, they are beautiful and choice, and wouldn’t they make excellent holiday gifts? You have Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse and a standing figure of Britannia on the reverse. They look almost like a Proof and remember these are early first strikes and just beautiful. Be one of the first to have the New 2019 Silver Britannia, we were only allowed 300 pieces, so please get in quickly if you want one in time for the holiday season. For some reason the Royal Mint is issuing the 2023 Silver Britannia with the Queen’s portrait on them! IWe were wrong when we said that the 2022 would be the last Queen Elizabeth II issue. My guess is they were struck before she died, we also understand that a King Charles Silver Britannia will be struck later in the year. But surprise, surprise not only was the 2023 Silver Britannia struck with the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, but we have them in stock ready to be sent out now! We have Choice Brilliant Uncirculated Early Strike examples in stock and ready to sell them to you today. Don’t ask how we got them but Coincraft – Britain’s Coin Shop has them first and ready for your collection. They may cut off production shortly and this could be a key coin, then again they may not. Each of these 2018 £2 Silver Britannia coin contains an ounce of pure Silver, and the design has been revamped. In 2016 they redid the reverse, to make it reflect the light better. In 2017 they also did the obverse, the field has cross hatching to make the light sparkle off the portrait of H. M. Queen Elizabeth II. These coins are gorgeous and we are sure you will love them. These coins are all Brilliant Uncirculated but they look like Proofs.

£20 Fine Silver, 2014 ‘World War I Outbreak’. The second in this series commemorating the centenary of the out break of World War I. They come in the original Royal Mint sealed wrappers mounted in a blister pack card.

Another in the £20 Fine Silver Series, this one issued in 2015 to mark the occasion of our late Queen Elizabeth II becoming the Longest Reigning Monarch, surpassing the record set by her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria. The obverse carries the Jody Clark portrait of the Queen and the reverse design, by Stephen Taylor, shows the five different portraits used on our coinage during her incredible reign. The coin comes sealed in the original Royal Mint packaging in Specimen BU condition.

This striking £20 coin is struck in Fine Silver in 2015. It was the third of a series and commemorates the 50th anniversary of the death of Winston Churchill. A superb piece at a fantastic price of just £37.50. They were only issued in BU, no proofs or circulation issues exist and some of the mintages are quite low and we have limited availability. Issued in 2016 to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday, this was the fifth in the £20 Fine Silver issues begun in 2013 and is also one of the lower mintages of the series. The reverse design, by Christopher Hobbs, features a crowned Royal Cypher above a number 90 encircled by roses. The coins are specimen BU and come in the original presentation card.
