Cuban, Souvenir Peso (1965-1985) Type 1
In 1985 Richard struck a Cuban Souvenir Peso to commemorate the 1965 Bay of Pigs Issue, which by chance he also had a hand in striking. This first type has a small and rather ugly head of Liberty with the beading far from the edge of the crown. The coins is crownsized and struck in Prooflike cupronickel, it was made by the Tower Mint some 32 years ago. As far as we know, this company is the only one in the world with a supply of this piece. One day these will be in great demand, once Americans are allowed to deal with and collect Cuban material.
