This trio of notes from Bhutan all depict a portrait of one of Bhutan’s kings. The 20 and 100 ngultrumfeature King Jigme Singye Wanchuk who coined the now famous phrase of Gross National Happiness, intended as a commitment to building an economy to serve the Buddhist culture. The 50 ngultrum features a portrait of his son King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wanchuk who succeeded his father as king in 2008.
