South Sudan 100-1000 Pounds 2020 P15-PW17 Unc

South Sudan gained its independence in July 2011 when it was recognised as a country in its own right. We can now offer a trio of higher value notes from this troubled African nation. Included are the 100, 500 and 1000 South Sudanese Pound notes dated between 2019 and 2021 (P15-PW17). The fronts feature a portrait of Dr Johan Garanga de Mabior. He was instrumental in the foundation of South Sudan and led the Sudan People’s Liberation Army during the 2nd Sudanese Civil War. He was tragically killed in a helicopter crash in 2005, robbed of the chance to see his country finally achieve independence. The back of 100 pounds features a lion and a huge waterfall, the 500 pounds a view of the Juba Nila Bridge over the White Nile River while a pair of ostriches is featured on the 1000. Uncirculated.
