Japan 10 & 50 Sen P61/84 EF and Better Pair

A pair of small denomination notes issued by Japan in 1947-8. Both are quite small. The first is the 1947 10 sen which has doves in flight as the vignette on the front and a view of the Japanese Parliament on the back. (P84) The 50 sen has a portrait of a man with impressive beard and moustache on the front and a design on the back (P61) Both notes are in EF and better condition.

This 5 sen note was the smallest note issued in Japan during the period 1942 to 1945 (P52.) Like its value, it is quite small. The illustration on the front is an equestrian statue of 14th-century Samurai Kusunoki Mashigi in front of the Imperial Palace. The back has a rosette and paulownia flowers. Uncirculated.
